Change Multiple Tasks at Once Using the New Fill Down Feature
Let’s say that you want to change the state, or deadline, or keywords for a number of different tasks at the same time.
In previous versions of Achieve Planner, you had to change each task individually one by one. Cutting and pasting may have saved you a little bit of time, but not much.
Achieve Planner 1.5 has a cool new shortcut that helps you change multiple rows simultaneously without having to edit them one by one.
Those of you familiar with Excel will recognize it as the “Fill Down” feature.
Basically, it takes the cell value of the topmost selected cell and copies it down to all the other selected cells in the same column.
For example, let’s say that you have 7 tasks and that you want to change all of them to have a Deadline of 9/10/07.

You would do the following:
1. Change the deadline of the topmost row to 9/10/07.

2. Select all the cells in the same column that you want to change to the new value. In this case, you can hold down the Shift key as you click on the cell of the last row to select all the cells in the range.

3. Use the Edit -> Fill Down command to take the topmost value and “fill it down” to all the cells below it.

That’s it! Here are the results:

But what if the cells you want to change are not all in a simple range? No problem!
For example, let’s say you want to change the deadline of rows 2, 5 and 7.
You would still select and change the topmost row (Row # 2) in this case, and then hold down the Ctrl key as you click on the other cells that you want to change (for rows 5 & 7.)

Then just use the fill down command to propagate the change down to the other selected cells (skipping the cells in between that are not selected.)
